Christiaan van der Klaauw Ceres 1974 Moon Phase.
We were able to acquire an early Christiaan van der Klaauw Ceres 1974 Moon phase. The watch is in very good condition. We have had the light polished and the case and folding clasp are therefore scratch free. The crocodile leather strap is new and has never been worn. We also added a slightly longer croco strap. These watch straps have the original seal. Imported and from an official crocodile breeding farm. Christiaan van der Klaauw is the most famous watchmaker in the Netherlands. He is simply the best. NLWatch is the largest provider of second-hand CVDK in the Netherlands. We have had several Ariandnes and Ceres watches in our collection. They have all been sold. Christiaan van der Klaauw achieved his greatest fame with the Planetarium. The smallest mechanical planetarium in the world. Inspired by the Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker. If you want to read more about this watch, click here. This beautiful site has written a nice story about this CVDK. The large Ceres 1974 that we offer of course also has a link with astronomy. Just like almost all watches from Christiaan van der Klaauw. It has a so-called ‘sunburst’ plate. With radial produced lines that are expensive to make. Gold hand and indexes that do not go beyond three. Also a small window for a moon position. Half a study is needed to read that properly, but this is a watch that you will buy for the rest of your life. Sapphire glass on both sides. And a very large 41mm steel case. Because the back is made of sapphire, the beautiful movement has got a podium. The rotor is of Benzinger caliber and is really beautifully crafted. It has the sun with the 12 claws and also the name of the maker engraved on the rotor. Of which the ‘sun with 12 claws’ in gold. A watch that radiates simplicity but with a special complication.
